Using the headphone jack

If you've never had to connect headphones before, you may be surprised to realize that your computer has in fact come with a headphone jack. It is usually located in the back of the computer case and should be the same size as a standard headphone jack.

Locate it on your pc and make sure that your headphones have a jack that fits into it. If so, then plug them in and power up your computer.

Your headphones should now be connected and you can start listening!

Use the USB port

Most computers made within the last few years have an audio out on their motherboard capable of sending sound to a pair of headphones. To connect a pair of headphones to a computer with this type of port, you will need:

A standard headphone jack cable that fits into both the computer and the headphones. It is usually one of two types: either a 1/8" jack or a 3.5mm jack . Your headphones may already have this type of cable attached to them, but if not, look for a 1/8" or 3.5mm adapter cable.

(In some situations , you may need a USB-to-stereo adapter ) The headphone jack on your computer may have an extension to help make it easier to plug into something else, such as the USB port on your computer.
